Upskilling and reskilling in EIT Manufacturing: competency model and quality system
The Knowledge Innovation Communities (KICs) supported by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) | EIT take a distinctive approach to upskilling and reskilling.
On one hand, these efforts address industry-identified skill gaps, equipping learners with the technical and digital expertise needed for their roles. On the other, KICs see upskilling and reskilling as opportunities to foster intrapreneurial capabilities and enhance transversal skills such as problem-solving and teamwork.
At FANTIT, we help organizations design, implement, and evaluate education programs with the same commitment to quality and impact. Get in touch to explore how this model can support your strategy.
At EIT Manufacturing, through stakeholder collaboration, we have created a comprehensive competency framework that defines key skills for advanced manufacturing across four proficiency levels, from foundational to leader. This model serves as a strategic tool to guide training development, optimize the education portfolio, and ensure lifelong learning aligns with industry needs.
Beyond structuring courses by topic and proficiency, a competency model enables gap analysis, sequencing, and integration of complementary learning paths. However, its true effectiveness depends on integration within a robust Quality Assurance System.
Quality as a driver for excellence
In EIT Manufacturing we have established a Quality System to enhance the creation, delivery, and continuous improvement of upskilling and reskilling programs. This ensures alignment with the organization’s values and principles while addressing the needs of learners, employers, and stakeholders.
Defining the governance, objectives, and necessary processes required time and effort. Wherever possible, new processes have been integrated into existing assessment, monitoring, guidance, and evaluation activities.
A Quality System has already been put in place for the quality label from the European Institute of Innovation & Technology.
